HEALING – SERVICE, FREE OR FOR A FEES

Should Healing Be Free? Does Serving Others Mean It Must Be Free?

From time to time, I come across posts on social media discussing whether healing should be free or paid for. Recently, I read a post from someone who was dealing with deep emotional wounds and seeking healing methods. They felt disappointed because of the costs involved, as they couldn’t afford the fees. I’d like to borrow their post as a motivation to share my perspective.

Almost All Healers Have Gone Through Their Own Wounds

There are a few healers who were “lucky” enough not to go through a crisis where they questioned their existence—”Who am I? Why is this happening to me? What is life?”—but most people go through this phase, whether it’s mild or severe. This is because, in normal life, things move at a very fast pace, revolving around basic needs like money, food, and survival. Those who are still content in the cycle won’t stop to ask, “Why am I doing all of this?” It is usually only those who have become tired or disillusioned with the cycle of life that begin to ask, “Is it possible to live differently?”

I, too, have gone through such crises. There was even a time when I couldn’t absorb anything from the outside; all I wanted was to fight everything. When I finally calmed down a bit and started looking for ways to help myself, I got lost in a maze of too many options, some of which felt like multi-level marketing schemes aimed at profit. First, there was something free, then a small fee, then larger fees, and I had no idea if they were truly solving anything. Especially after spending money and seeing no results, my doubts increased dramatically, and it became exhausting.

But isn’t this how things are in the chaotic information age? Give someone any random keyword, and when they start searching, they will inevitably find themselves led into a maze of information. The more abstract and elusive something is, the more chaotic the information around it becomes.

Even someone working in the healing field will face many crossroads, with different methods, techniques, and schools, different teachers, and various fees… As you go deeper, the courses become “designed for those who want to help others” rather than for personal healing. Moreover, as a person addresses smaller issues, the problems they face will be more complex, higher than their current level of awareness or ability. The number of teachers capable of assisting at that level becomes fewer. The usual rule is that the rarer and more valuable something is, the higher its price—whether it’s in terms of money, time, or effort.

Healers Face the Same Financial Challenges

In fact, when healers study, they face the same financial challenges you do when you begin your own journey of self-understanding and balancing mind and body. Sometimes, they spend a lot of money on courses and feel frustrated if they feel the course wasn’t worth the money. Sometimes, they lament not having enough funds to continue their learning. The important thing is how each person chooses to handle these situations. From my perspective, I don’t comment on whether free or paid healing is right or wrong. We are all in the same boat, facing situations where our current resources seem insufficient to pursue what we want to do—whether that’s healing, physical illness treatment, further education, or travel experiences. What ultimately leads to different experiences for each person is how they choose to handle that situation.

Conclusion: Navigating Financial Realities in Healing

In conclusion, whether healing should be free or paid is not a simple question. Both the healer and the subject face financial challenges on their respective journeys. The difference lies in how each person chooses to deal with those challenges. The key is to keep an open mind, evaluate options carefully, and trust that the right path will unfold at the right time. Healing, like any personal growth, requires not only emotional and spiritual investment but also a practical one, and the choices we make in navigating these challenges will shape our experiences and outcomes.

We Can Only Do What Is Within Our Awareness and Abilities

Simply put, you can only handle a problem effectively when your awareness or ability surpasses the level of the problem. If your ability is below the level of the issue, you need to raise your capability, or the problem will eventually overpower you—not the other way around. For those who choose to offer free or voluntary healing, there are two major challenges they must face:

1. Financial Issues:
Because they don’t generate enough income from the time and effort they put in, while they still have families and financial needs. Even if they reduce their needs to the minimum, there will still be some basic requirements. Therefore, they must have another source of income to compensate for this. If they can’t handle this, sooner or later, their own lives and families will experience friction. Money may not be the most important thing, but many problems arise from a lack of it.

Even if you are not a professional healer charging fees, and you simply enjoy listening to others’ thoughts and helping them release their burdens, your resources are still limited to 24 hours a day. If you dedicate too much time to this, you will have no time left for your family and yourself. At some point, your family will start to protest, and your primary work will also start to show signs of strain.

2. Motivation Issues:
It’s a common human tendency to undervalue something that is freely available. The more something can be taken advantage of, the more it will be exploited. So, there are cases where healers agree to help for free, on a voluntary basis, but the other party becomes hesitant, and sometimes, even in better financial situations than the healer, they still claim to be “in a difficult situation.” Those who choose to do everything for free or on a voluntary basis will encounter these types of clients more often. As humans, we are all in the same boat, but facing these situations can easily lead to a dip in mood and spirit. If the healer doesn’t know how to rejuvenate themselves, they may face burnout or even a crisis. This feeling is similar to the sensation of being exploited. If you’ve ever felt taken advantage of in work, relationships, or even within your own family or love life, you’ll recognize this feeling. If you’ve been exhausted after just a few instances of this, imagine how many times a healer in this position might experience it.

THE LAW OF GIVE AND TAKE

In reality, we don’t actually own anything. Everything is borrowed from the universe for our experiences, and the universe has a law of balance. The more you receive, the more you need to give back. If you receive little, you cannot give much. If what you receive doesn’t match what you give, it will naturally self-destruct. This applies to everyone and everything in life. Those who maintain long-term prosperity are those who can balance what they receive and what they give. From this perspective, I believe it’s best to choose what we feel we deserve, what feels deserving of us, as it brings the least headache. Don’t spend too much time or energy focusing on what you perceive as “unfair.” There are people who seem to accumulate a lot, but they must also give somewhere in return. There are those who appear to be at the peak of success, and while we may have a desire for that, they’ve likely put in a lot of effort to get there. No matter where you are in life, there will always be someone on the same frequency as you, whether higher or lower than you. So, choose perspectives that make you feel that “the path is opening up” and there will always be people, in that fleeting moment, who will extend a hand to help and show you the way within your reach. If you choose narrow perspectives, there will also be people, in that moment of impermanence, who will kick you down.

I’ve written all this, but in the end, it turns out I was writing it for myself, and for everyone.

P.S: This article was written over a year ago on my personal page. Looking back, it still holds great value. After almost a year as a professional energy healer, I see more clearly the energy imbalances, especially for those who “give” or “receive” too excessively.
