“WHAT I SEE IS REAL OR JUST MY IMAGINATION?”
This is the timeless question from the subject after each hypnosis session. It’s the same question I struggled with when I was first hypnotized. Because I’m a bit lazy, I decided to answer this question in detail so that I wouldn’t have to repeat it after every session from now on. I started working as a quantum hypnotist not too long ago, and I’m still quite new compared to many other colleagues in Vietnam and around the world. What I know is still very limited compared to the more experienced practitioners. However, because no one has written—or there hasn’t been a piece of writing that really satisfies the topic—I’m taking the liberty to summarize based on my own real experiences. I believe that as I continue to work and gain more experience, I will have even more discoveries to share as I go. Please, if you share this, kindly attribute the source.
COMMON MISUNDERSTANDINGS
Only those involved know that the process of quantum healing varies greatly; no two sessions are the same. However, the way information is communicated through articles, videos, titles, and definitions often leads outsiders to narrow perspectives and can make them cling to those views. Sometimes, this is the reason why the subject’s mind cannot “let go” of doubts during the hypnosis session, affecting the outcome.
1.MISUNDERSTANDING HEALING IS ABOUT EXPLORING PAST LIVES
Many healing sessions don’t involve revisiting any past life. Some subjects simply lie there and feel the energy, or they may only see a few images, but these images are often enough to answer the questions they need. Some sessions focus solely on the current life, and even just crying or laughing during the session helps the subject release blockages within them.
2.NOT BELIEVING IN YOURSELF
The language of the subconscious is very diverse: it can be images, symbols, internal voices, emotions, or physical sensations—sometimes it’s a knowing without any reason. However, when reading hypnosis stories, it’s easy to misunderstand that you must see something or that the vision must be clear and sharp to be valid. Some real-life examples to recognize this are as follows: Imagine someone is standing behind you, and you don’t see them, they haven’t touched you, there’s no sound or smell, but you still know they’re there. This is thanks to the intuitive awareness you have. Next, close your eyes and imagine someone you love, from the shape of their face, body, clothing, and gestures. You’ll notice that the level of detail in your mental image right now varies for each person. Some people clearly remember the face of their loved ones but don’t notice their clothing, while others focus more on the outfit and gestures, but forget about the hair or face. Some may not focus much on the appearance but are very good at remembering voices.
So, place your trust in your own awareness during the hypnosis session. Trust here doesn’t mean believing whether it’s real or imaginary, right or wrong, but trusting that in this moment, you are aware of everything coming to you as it is. You only need to observe objectively and narrate it as accurately as possible to the hypnotist.
3. CLINGING TO TIME, SPACE, AND FORM
The phrases “past life regression” or “reincarnation regression” often lead to a mindset that gets fixated on the before-and-after of time, narrowed down to a specific space, or a particular form. In reality, the process of quantum hypnosis is highly diverse. You can still be you in the present life, revisit the past of your current life, go back to a life in a well-known historical period, or explore a possible future in this life or another life. You can even experience what it’s like to access a “different version of yourself” in the same era you are living in.
You could be on Earth, in space, on the clouds, underground, or in some other realm—or in a place that has never been mentioned before. You could even continuously experience life as a Vietnamese citizen during a time of war or peace. You could be human, an animal, a plant, or some form of matter, or even something invisible like pure consciousness. All of these possibilities are available.
There’s also no limit to how these experiences can come to you. You might experience multiple lives as parallel movies playing at the same time or different moments of the same life happening concurrently. You might even find yourself in one place and another at the same time, in different forms. All of this is possible. So, don’t limit your mind to what you already know or what you’ve read elsewhere.
4. HYPNOSIS MUST BE A NOVEL EXPERIENCE
Some subjects, particularly those with “dominant left-brains,” expect hypnosis to be something entirely different from what they experience in everyday life. However, this is not the case. From a scientific perspective, hypnosis brings you to a brainwave state of Alpha or Theta, which your subconscious mind already transitions through regularly. Hypnosis is simply the state of brainwaves when you’re in a semi-conscious state, either preparing to fall asleep or wake up. Some dreams you experience during this state are messages your subconscious wants to send to you.
In fact, some subjects, when entering the hypnotic state, end up encountering dreams they’ve had, and we continue to explore what those dreams didn’t fully reveal. Additionally, some subjects, after watching hypnosis videos, mistakenly believe that being hypnotized means being unconscious and unaware. Therefore, it’s best to follow the hypnotist’s guidance and not worry about, “Have I been hypnotized yet? Why do I still feel awake? Why does this feel just like a dream I’ve had before—what’s different?”
I want to emphasize that hypnosis is not just for exploring past lives, but it’s a way for you to connect with your inner self. It’s an experience where you observe yourself both from the perspective of being involved and as an outside observer. From that perspective, you will gain insights essential for your current life. You can call this connection with your soul, your higher self, or your spiritual teacher, but many mistakenly think that the higher self or spiritual teacher is an external entity. This is similar to going to a temple to pray before a Buddha statue, but now, you’re kneeling before something invisible to receive a connection or a message. It’s not that. The Buddha within you, God within you, and the higher self within you are all aspects of your being, but on a much higher level of wisdom and consciousness. Connecting with them is ultimately about connecting with yourself, observing and recognizing yourself, and being awake to your true nature.
Everyone experiences moments of connection in daily life; you just don’t always realize it. For example, when you’re in awe of the beauty of nature, immersing your entire mind, body, and spirit into it and feeling moved by that beauty—that’s a moment of connection, realizing how much you already have, for free, without knowing it. Or when you witness or perform a kind act, feeling it resonate deeply in your heart, and that joy stays with you for a long time. That’s also a connection, helping you realize that sustainable joy doesn’t depend on the amount of money in your wallet. Especially when you experience moments of brilliance—when you don’t know why you’re saying or doing something perfectly, as if on autopilot—that’s a moment of connection, too. You may think it’s just “luck” or “chance,” but the truth is, this state can repeat continuously when you awaken to it. Similarly, when you do something that goes against your conscience and find yourself repeatedly thinking and questioning it, that too is a connection, helping you realize, “It’s foolish to do something that takes away my inner peace.”
As explained above, the outcome of hypnosis could be: 1. Discovering something new because you didn’t realize it was already within you; or 2. You already knew it, but your Ego or fear prevented you from facing the truth. Therefore, you should “let go” of your mind during the hypnosis session and listen to the recording afterward. Each time you listen, you might extract new insights, just like reading a good book where each re-read reveals something new or reaffirms past experiences.
5. THE MOON OR THE FINGER POINTING AT THE MOON
Remember that this life of yours is the most important one—it is the life you need to live fully, because the past is gone, and the future has not yet come. You come to hypnosis to receive useful messages for your current life. Therefore, whether you choose to believe that what you see are past lives, or simply view them as tools your subconscious uses to send messages to you, it doesn’t matter. The subconscious is an excellent creator and can craft that message from data you’ve never seen before or have frequently encountered in your everyday life—like a movie you just watched or a story you just read. Similar to how a director chooses to convey a message to the audience through a period drama or a science fiction film, the viewer doesn’t need to worry about whether the period drama or science fiction is “real” in the present. If you look at it this way, you don’t need to worry about “Did I really see this or is it just my imagination?” After a hypnosis session, you can still seek out historical information about the past lives to explore further, not to prove “if they are not real, then they mean nothing to me.” The moon is the goal, and the finger pointing at the moon is the means. If the goal helps you return to the present, to live more fully in the present, and you truly feel the effectiveness of that, then whether the means you use is a tractor or Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage doesn’t matter. At this moment, this is the means you need to reach that goal. At another time, you might use a different means. That’s all.
I fully understand that hypnosis is not necessary for those who already know how to let go and live fully in the present. But indeed, everyone has their own path to return to the Truth, to discover what the true nature of a person is, and what life truly is. And truly, there are people at certain stages who still can’t practice letting go, even if they’ve tried many different methods. For them, quantum hypnosis can be incredibly helpful. If you’ve used other methods and succeeded with them, congratulations! But take a moment to reflect on the process you’ve gone through. You, too, had to pass through many stages of awareness growth, and that path was not straight from start to finish. A long-time patient who wants to heal also needs the right teacher and the right medicine. A tree must also find the right soil and water to grow. Similarly, some people are aligned with hypnosis at a particular stage in their life to help them awaken. And everything that exists or is born in this world is natural, it fits with nature, it has its reason, and it has its cause that leads to its existence. So, don’t say “Hypnosis goes against nature,” or that hypnosis cannot compare with the divine eye. These are just means—just a finger pointing at the moon.
Thank you for following along, and I look forward to the next part, which will delve deeper into answering this question.
