People who are passionate about Reiki often face difficulties when searching for a qualified Reiki teacher. This article shares the journey of becoming a Siam Reiki Teacher, from being someone who knew nothing about energy, and will give you an inside perspective from someone who has been through it.
Steve (Steven Burgess – Lee Wei Dee), the Founder of Siam Reiki and Peaceful Life, is an experienced teacher and therapist in many healing, energy, and psychic fields. He started as a Kungfu teacher at the age of 19 and has now accumulated over 30 years of experience as a teacher and developer of internationally recognized courses, especially in Siam Reiki. Worldwide, there are probably few people who have as much Reiki healing experience as him, with nearly 10,000 hands-on Reiki sessions. Additionally, it is rare to find a Reiki teacher who has both extensive practical experience and a solid theoretical foundation, as well as a simple, logical, and highly practical mindset. He is the 6th generation disciple of Master Mikao Usui.
In Peaceful Life, an organization initiated by Steve, there are many alternative health practices such as Yoga, Qi Gong, Massage, Gong Therapy, Card Reading, Siam Reiki, etc. The teachers for each discipline are experienced both in practice and theory. Once they become teachers at Peaceful Life, they are elevated in their mindset and teaching skills, similar to how Steve has standardized and systematized the original Reiki energy flow. Similarly, becoming a Siam Reiki teacher in Peaceful Life is not easy, especially since energy is an abstract, invisible concept for most people.
Below, I’ll summarize some requirements for someone to start from scratch and eventually become a Siam Reiki Master (level 3) within approximately one year.
Siam Reiki Level 1 Course: 2 days, no prerequisite.
DPA Course – 30 Meditation Exercises to Develop Psychic Abilities: 7-9 days. Prerequisite: Completed Siam Reiki Level 1.
Crystal Healing Course: 2 days. Prerequisite: Completed Siam Reiki Level 1.
Siam Reiki Level 2 Course: 2 days. Prerequisite: 2 months waiting after Siam Reiki Level 1 and completion of 10 hands-on healing sessions.
Pendulum Dowsing Course: 2 days. Prerequisite: Completed Siam Reiki Level 2.
Energy Forms and Transcendence Recognition Course: 3 days. Prerequisite: Completed Siam Reiki Level 2 and DPA.
Siam Reiki Master (Level 3) Course: Completed all the above courses, 6 months waiting after Siam Reiki Level 2, and completion of 30 hands-on healing sessions.
Siam Reiki consists of 9 levels (corresponding to the 9 levels of the Akashic Records). Teacher levels are from level 4-9. It takes at least 1 year and 100 hands-on Reiki sessions (with professional fees) to be considered for becoming a teacher. A Siam Reiki Teacher at level 5 is qualified to teach Siam Reiki Level 1 students. Similarly, each time a teacher progresses to a new level, they need additional training to teach students at the corresponding level. Students trained by official Siam Reiki teachers at Peaceful Life are guaranteed to receive authentic Reiki energy transmission, an internationally recognized certificate, and can continue to study higher levels with other Siam Reiki teachers.
Currently, I am a Siam Reiki Teacher at level 5.
Honestly, right after I completed Siam Reiki Master, I was extremely excited and thought that I would reach the teacher level quickly. But that excitement was quickly extinguished after about a month, when I was doing Reiki healing for clients and realized that my experience was still too limited and uncertain to teach anyone. At that time, I didn’t even understand clearly what Reiki energy was and how it differed from psychic energy. So, I stopped thinking about becoming a Siam Reiki teacher and simply focused on gaining as much experience as possible to improve my skills and help my clients. After a year as a Master, I became more confident. Even though I still felt nervous about the new responsibilities of being a teacher, I felt that all the experiences and knowledge I had gained would be a waste if I didn’t share them with others. The miraculous things that Siam Reiki brings to individuals should be spread to more people, so I accepted the new challenge. Thankfully, Teacher Steve, Suki, and Reem in Siam Reiki/Peaceful Life trusted and supported me.
Every individual has their own unique journey, so this is what I’ve been through.
1.Understanding and believing in the power of the standardized, systematized original Reiki energy flow by Siam Reiki
Reiki works on myself and everyone I have treated or introduced to Siam Reiki. From being someone with no psychic abilities, after about 2 years, my psychic abilities developed significantly and became stable. I could now use these abilities to verify the energy flow, which was once invisible to me, rather than simply trusting what others told me. All Siam Reiki students, especially those who started from scratch like I did, develop significantly with consistent quality.
2.Developing energy frequency, experience, and related skills.
Reiki is not a theory; it is energy. Knowing the theory without the energy abilities won’t allow you to teach others. Below is what I personally assess as things I must be able to do before I could ever consider being a teacher. A Siam Reiki Master must have at least 50 Guides – meaning the energy frequency must be large enough, and the physical body must be able to carry the corresponding amount of energy to make the necessary adjustments for students. The number of Guides increases as the teacher begins to make adjustments for students. At Siam Reiki level 5, I am only able to carry enough energy to adjust a class of up to 4 students. Teacher Steve can adjust a class of 20-30 students (I don’t know the maximum number). If you’ve done a 60-minute Siam Reiki healing session and sweated profusely, imagine that when making adjustments, the amount of energy flowing through you in just 2 minutes is even stronger than that. To meet this requirement, a Reiki Master typically needs at least 1 year of practice with 100 direct Reiki healing sessions.
Observing and recognizing the energy flow during a Reiki session. At Siam Reiki Level 1, students must be able to identify when the energy flow starts and stops in their hands, and adjust their hand positions accordingly. If a teacher cannot observe this basic ability in a student at Level 1, they might need to sit in deep reflection with Master Usui for a year. Fortunately, all Siam Reiki Masters can do this, so when they become teachers, they will be very confident.
Observing and recognizing the blocks/problems in students without needing to do Reiki healing for them. This helps teachers support students more effectively during the short time in class. Thankfully, thanks to many Reiki aura readings I did, this skill developed before I realized how much it would help me as a teacher. If Teacher Steve can identify a problem in just a few seconds while chatting normally, I take about 5 minutes, intensely focused. I hope I can improve the speed of this skill.
Distinguishing different types of energy blocks. I think this skill is crucial and must come from practice and solid theoretical references. There won’t be a suitable solution if you don’t understand what problem you’re facing. If the block is emotional, but you mistakenly think it’s a spirit attachment, transcending it won’t make a difference. Hehe.
Distinguishing types of energy in the space. This is one of the slowest developing skills for me, but fortunately, thanks to participating in many Transcending classes and especially being a Fire Keeper in the Fire Lighting Ceremony, I became more sensitive to energy in the space. Specifically, when making adjustments for Siam Reiki Level 1 students, the teacher must ensure the energy in the classroom is safe and clean, and that the guardian spirits they invited are from the highest sacred realms. If they can’t do this, it won’t be safe for everyone in the class. The more you understand energy safety in the space, the more you’ll understand why Siam Reiki always requires a Reiki Master to monitor energy during Reiki Share sessions, and of course, energy in the classroom needs just as much care.
Observing and understanding the Guides working with you to better collaborate with them. I’m not yet very proficient in this, as since Level 2, I’ve treated Guides like “Bears,” accepting whatever comes. I hope I can improve in this area going forward. Hehe.
This is just my perspective; however, Siam Reiki has very clear criteria for what each level must achieve, and only when these requirements are met can you move on to the next level.
3.Going with the flow, harmonizing with the universe
This is not something easily measurable. As I’ve shared many times, Reiki is more than just a tool. It brings you back into harmony, balancing with the flow of the universe. As a teacher, your vibration increases, and the speed of the universe’s feedback also increases if you resist this flow. Therefore, the senior teachers of Siam Reiki/Peaceful Life will talk with you often to help you navigate this flow.
Here are a few lessons I believe are crucial:
-
If you truly love something, you can’t stop talking about it, and you can’t stop taking care of it. So if you love Reiki but don’t talk about it, you don’t love it enough.
-
Money is energy. Being overly attached to money isn’t good, but neglecting money isn’t good either. You will face big problems and unsafe situations if you fall into either extreme.
-
Fairness for all: This is very important but not easy to understand. For example, many people may think that if they become a Reiki teacher, they will teach Reiki to their family members. However, it is actually better for their family to learn Reiki from a different teacher, to avoid the “local Buddha is not respected” mentality.
-
Self-management skills: This is extremely important, but I’ll reflect on it after another year. Right now, I still feel quite clueless, hehe.
This is a summary of my journey – “a light flex” about the early years of a Siam Reiki teacher. Honestly, before teacher training sessions, I was so anxious that I couldn’t sleep, feeling the weight of responsibility. I hope I’m fulfilling this role, experiencing the joys and challenges of this new journey, developing further, but still not forgetting to enjoy life like I always have.
Grateful to Master Mikao Usui, Teacher Steve, and the other teachers in Siam Reiki/Peaceful Life, my colleagues, fellow students, and clients who have always supported me.

Becoming a Siam Reiki Master (Part 1)
