HOW REIKI HELPS REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY

Reiki therapy is highly effective in helping to reduce stress, tension, and anxiety.

Depending on the severity and duration of the condition, receiving intensive Reiki treatments from a Reiki Master or Reiki Teacher—or learning and practicing Reiki for self-healing—can quickly help clients regain mental balance and alleviate the physical symptoms resulting from stress.

Manifestations of Stress and Anxiety on the Energy Bodies

Frequent or intense states of stress, tension, and anxiety can create blockages in the mental body. These often arise from emotional disturbances, emotional imbalance, or physical overexertion and fatigue. As a result, blockages commonly appear simultaneously in the emotional and etheric bodies. When accumulated over time, these imbalances eventually manifest physically in the body.

For individuals who overthink, calculate excessively, or cannot detach from their constant stream of thoughts, blockages typically appear in the head region (from the neck upward). Energetically, this may look like dense, dark clouds surrounding the head. When stress is excessive or prolonged, these forms may become heavy and solid—sometimes rock-like—leading to sensations of heaviness in the head or stiffness in the neck. In cases of extreme pressure, these blockages may resemble an overstretched string on the verge of snapping, or a spring stretched beyond its natural elasticity.

When stress and anxiety are strongly tied to livelihood or financial concerns, the Root Chakra is also significantly affected. The energetic stagnation here often mirrors what occurs in the head region.

Stress can also impact Chakra 4 (the Heart Chakra), creating pressure in the heart and lung area. Clients may feel a heavy weight on the center of the chest. In some cases, this affects circulation; in others, it influences respiratory function.

However, stress most commonly affects the abdomen—Chakra 3 (the Solar Plexus). Depending on the individual, different organs may be impacted, including the stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, or intestines. Long-term tension combined with emotional suppression often burdens the liver, while tension accompanied by insecurity or excessive worry frequently affects the stomach.

How Reiki Helps Reduce Stress and Anxiety

During a Reiki session, both the practitioner and the client naturally enter a deeply relaxed state. A practitioner with a large, expansive energy field channels more energy, allowing the client to reach a deep Alpha or Theta brainwave state more rapidly. This is the state in which the body achieves optimal recovery—comparable to Samadhi in meditation or a trance state in hypnosis.
Even when Level 1 Siam Reiki students practice self-treatment, their body and mind still enter a restorative, restful state, though typically not as deeply as during a Master-level treatment.

Reiki energy functions as an electromagnetic field that helps reorganize polarities within the energy bodies and release negative ions.

As described earlier, blockages caused by stress, tension, and anxiety have specific energetic shapes, densities, and colors. After receiving Reiki—especially intensive Siam Reiki from a Reiki Master level practitioner—these blockages begin to change. Solid forms may soften, liquefy, or disperse, and stagnant areas lighten in color and clarity. Clients often report a sensation of lightness, openness, and improved flow.

Reiki Case Study: Stress and Anxiety Reduction

One client living abroad had followed my work for many years. In July 2025, they contacted me urgently for a remote Siam Reiki session because they “couldn’t bear it anymore.”

Their stress level was extremely high. Intense tension and a strong need for control permeated their entire energy system. Physically, they did not have the strength to withstand such strain, and they had a pattern of pushing themselves to exhaustion before acknowledging their limits. At the time they reached out, they had been suffering from persistent eczema on their hands for months. The condition worsened with stress, and the stress worsened as the eczema progressed—creating a vicious cycle.

During the initial session in July, I observed that their detoxification organs—the liver, gallbladder, and kidneys—were heavily overloaded, and their blood quality appeared very poor.

One month later, during the follow-up remote session, the intensity of their stress had noticeably decreased. The liver and gallbladder were significantly less burdened, and the eczema on their hands had greatly improved. The client reported feeling much better both mentally and physically compared to the first session.
If they were to learn and practice Siam Reiki for self-healing, their progress would likely accelerate even further.
