SILLY ENERGY HEALER (Part 1)

This is part of a series about my professional journey and experiences as a Reiki healer/ Energy healer. If you’re interested in energy healing and want to know the “behind-the-scenes” story—from someone who knew nothing about energy to becoming a professional energy therapist, and the challenges along the way—then follow these articles.

From the outside, the title of “Reiki Master” might seem impressive, as energy is a very abstract concept for most people. However, not every Reiki Master dares to admit they are one; some may never even show off their Master certificate from a specific association. A common reason for this is a lack of confidence in their own abilities and the tools they possess.

The Journey to Becoming a Siam Reiki Master
For Siam Reiki, due to the high standards in training and therapy, becoming a Siam Reiki Master is not easy. The process takes about a year and includes many mandatory courses and a required number of hands-on therapy sessions. It’s estimated that by the time a person receives their Siam Reiki Master certificate, they have already performed around 100 in-person and distance healing sessions; some may have even completed up to 300 sessions before becoming a Master. Therefore, a true Siam Reiki Master has the knowledge and skills to be recognized as a professional therapist.
Even so, becoming a Reiki Master is just the beginning of a very long journey. The knowledge and guidance from a teacher are only a small part; the real practice and growth from a Reiki healer’s experiences are what cultivate their unique abilities.

My “Baby Master” Experience

When you’re new to Reiki, especially at the lower levels (Reiki 1 and 2), you likely look forward to developing psychic abilities—being able to see this or feel that. But having psychic abilities is a very small part of the practice and can lead to many problems if you don’t know how to manage them to live peacefully with your abilities in everyday life. In fact, some people are born with certain heightened psychic senses and find it difficult to balance this ability in their lives without any formal training.

Initially, after becoming a Reiki Master, the amount of information received during a healing session increased exponentially due to the energy expansion from the attunement. My main challenge was managing these psychic abilities, specifically in interpreting the information I received. For example, psychic A might see a thorny, pungent fruit and conclude it’s a jackfruit, while psychic B might interpret it as a durian. Psychic A might boldly conclude the client’s blockage is because they love to eat jackfruit, while psychic B might interpret it as the client being blocked because their passion for something is beyond their financial means.

One of the most common mistakes, even at the Reiki 2 or Master level, is seeing an image of a person and assuming it’s a “mindful entity”—an unstranscended spirit following the client. In reality, it may just be the client’s emotional blockage related to that person. Misinterpreting information leads to an incorrect approach, and the therapy session won’t be as effective.

My teacher, Steve, once shared a story about a group of therapists who gathered to collectively help a client “release a mindful entity”—only to discover that the “mindful entity” was actually the client’s own consciousness. To help us better discern information during a session, he developed a series of practical questions that therapists should ask their Guides and clients to gather more information.

I’ll never forget a “professional accident” that happened right after I became a Master; I still laugh about it. During a session, I placed my hands on a client’s abdomen and saw an image of a baby. I stubbornly concluded that the client was pregnant, which understandably freaked them out. They immediately took a pregnancy test, as they had just broken up with their boyfriend.
As I’ve gained more experience, I’ve gotten better at interpreting information and communicating with clients to understand their situations. I hope my past clients would be understanding. After all, even seasoned Masters started as “Baby Masters.”
