This is a serie of little stories of how I became skillful in my work as an energy healer/ Reiki healer in Vietnam. I was neither born with a psychic gift nor sensitive with the energy. My personal growth in this field was definitely thanks to effective Siam Reiki and high standard of Reiki training from Teacher Steve, and thanks to my on-going practice.
Having been a student of Dolores Cannon’s Quantum Hypnosis, she always emphasized the importance of consistently practicing what is taught and not giving up too early by trying to invent new techniques. This, combined with a personal lesson from my past where I always dreamed of “doing something big” while being lazy with small tasks, led to a result where I wasn’t strong enough for the big things and didn’t bother with the small things. As a result, time passed without me accomplishing anything meaningful. I have also seen many people who love collecting “secret manuals” but never truly practice any of them. Therefore, from the very beginning of my basic Siam Reiki course, I forced myself to diligently follow exactly what was taught, without rushing to be creative or to secretly learn new things. My teacher, Steve, is also a very systematic instructor who requires students to follow a complete, step-by-step process without taking shortcuts. That’s why when I learned or experienced Siam Reiki, it was never a 15-minute session; it was always a full session. Thanks to this, I was a relatively disciplined student until I became a Master. There was no instance of me reading a few books, finding a cool “secret manual,” and applying it to Siam Reiki. I did exactly as my teacher taught. Thankfully, looking back, I consider myself very lucky not to have been led astray at the basic levels. However, upon reaching the Master level, I was a bit “clumsy,” specifically, there were many tools my teacher provided, but I didn’t realize how to combine them.
Accustomed to performing a complete 10-point hand-placement Reiki session, even though I occasionally saw my teacher, Steve, quickly pass by a couple practicing Reiki and just place his hand on the recipient for a moment, causing that person to tear up, I had completely forgotten that I could use Reiki energy briefly in a few minutes when a full session wasn’t possible. Essentially, this is no different from “holding energy” in a shared space, but I had forgotten that I could do the same for a person.
During a Reiki Share session one day, a person came to experience Reiki and, after receiving it, felt their energy was chaotic and their head was spinning, so they asked for help. “Uh, how do I do this?” I calmed down for a moment and felt the energy in their head was like a tornado. Since there was no time for a full Reiki session, I decided to take a chance and told them to lie down. I just felt around and placed my hand wherever the energy was chaotic until it rebalanced. Oh my gosh, for the first time in my life, I realized the mechanism behind my teacher’s quick hand-placement that made so many people tear up was this very thing. I felt incredibly “clumsy.”
That was an experience that made me realize the flow of Reiki energy had already integrated with me, becoming one with me, rather than just being a matter of using individual energy techniques or separate healing modalities. At an advanced level, when necessary, just a few minutes of Reiki can provide great support for someone in need. More importantly, Siam Reiki helps me know very clearly what I am doing within those few minutes and what I am affecting in their body, rather than being vague about what I am doing.
