THE “SIAM REIKI” WARRIOR SPIRIT

As being an energy healer/ Reiki healer, I not only deal with congestions in a person’s body but also encounter with entities – mindful energies, whether they are earth-bounded entities or entities that come from the Highest of Good.

When I first entered the world of healing and realized the true nature of myself as something precious and eternal, distinct from my physical body, I, like many others, embraced concepts like “Love and Light.” We spoke of unconditional love, of being light and love, of the idea that we are all one, and that a soul has no right or wrong. Life seemed filled with a rosy glow, and even for lost souls, we were taught to treat them with love and light.
Of course, we can’t deny that darkness exists, black magic exists, and some people manipulate unreleased spirits for personal gain. So, in those cases, what should we do with the darkness?

In early 2023, when I was new to Siam Reiki, my teacher Steve mentioned the concept of Love and Light but also introduced the “warrior spirit.” This raised a big question for me after I completed Siam Reiki 2 and considered the Transcending Entities course. What exactly does “warrior spirit” mean? Does it mean fighting with spirits, forcing them to move on even if they don’t want to? If so, doesn’t that contradict unconditional love, Love and Light, and compassion for these trapped souls?
If you have the same question, I hope my small experiences from following my teacher’s path can provide some answers.

A Professional Approach
First, professional Siam Reiki therapists are responsible for helping their clients. This work—and even clearing the energy of a client’s home—can involve unreleased entities, black magic, and other forms of negative energy. In these situations, the therapist should be fearless, unyielding, and non-negotiable. When it’s time to engage, it’s a full-on battle, using methods that can be gentle, aggressive, or even quite “funny.”

Here is a very aggressive and humorous example. During a retreat in Thailand last November, there was a session dedicated to checking the energy of students’ homes. The work began at 9 p.m. and didn’t finish until midnight. Everyone—the Masters, the students who had completed the Transcending course, and our teacher Steve—took turns checking each house. We should have stopped there, but Steve suddenly told us to help all the spirits we had just found to transcend. It was dark and cold beside the sacred fire, and I was wrapped in a blanket, yawning. Steve pointed directly at me and said, “Elise, if you want to participate, sit up properly. Otherwise, get out.”

During the first round of transcendence, Master B still couldn’t get one spirit to move on. Steve scolded us all:
“What time do you all want to go to bed? 1:30 a.m. or 3 a.m.? If you continue at this pace, you won’t be done by 3 a.m. Do you want to go to bed with ghosts? Be decisive and smart! B, check what this spirit is.”
B replied, “A female spirit, 34 years old.”
Steve: “Now, what does a 34-year-old woman believe in?”
B hesitated: “Goddess of Mercy…”
Steve: “Are you sure?”
I blurted out: “They believe in money!”
I don’t know how, but in the end, that spirit finally transcended, guided by the Happy Buddha—the chubby, money-clutching Maitreya Buddha.
Thanks to our teacher’s determination, we finished the work and went to bed at 1:30 a.m.

Respect and Intention

Second, while maintaining this warrior spirit when necessary, “this warrior is not arrogant or reckless” and has no ambition to be a hero. Specifically, my teacher always reminds us to prioritize our safety and the safety of others. We should never go into a person’s house and challenge the entire unseen realm there. Many people ask us, if we can help spirits transcend, why don’t we go to war cemeteries in Vietnam to help the fallen soldiers? But our job is to assist the living and do what is necessary for them, not to show off what we can do.

Third, my teacher has great respect for the deceased, whether they are in a high or low vibrational state. I personally appreciate how Steve clearly defines the meaning of rituals. For example, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year is a time to remember our ancestors, regardless of whether they have transcended. He told us to use this occasion to show respect and remember our ancestors, not to invite their spirits back home. Spirits who have not transcended, even if they are our ancestors, are in a low vibrational state and can negatively affect the living. According to him, Lunar New Year is also not the right time for the work of transcending ancestors. This perspective is interesting and aligns with Vietnamese traditions, such as the seventh lunar month being a time for such ceremonies. This clarity about the meaning of rituals is also evident in the activities during our Lighting the Fire retreat. For example, we are not allowed to mix photos of people being treated with the photos used for the ceremony to help ancestors transcend. All photos used in the ceremony and for checking house energy must be burned afterward.

A few years ago, when he came to Vietnam to work, Steve visited the My Son Sanctuary to connect with Vietnamese ancestors and “ask for permission” to work in Vietnam. Before our Lighting the Fire event in Hanoi in July 2024, I personally saw him connect and “ask for permission” from the local ancestors of that land. At the 7 Stones in Ubon, Thailand, before every Lighting the Fire event, he always takes everyone to the local guardian shrine to “ask for permission.” I translated this as “ask for permission” because that’s how Vietnamese people might understand it. But he explained that it’s not about seeking permission to get approval; it’s an act of respect and a courtesy. He says that as human beings with limbs and dreams, we have the right to go wherever we want. But wherever we go, we need to show respect to the unseen realm of that place. In November 2024, when we visited the guardian shrine at 7 Stones, he made it very clear that the area has both high- and low-vibrational energies, but that everyone’s purpose for the visit must be clear: to show respect and announce the ceremony. The trip was not to be turned into a “transcendence war.”

In short, I now see that the “Siam Reiki warrior spirit” doesn’t contradict “Love and Light”. It’s about fulfilling our mission quickly and safely, without forgetting unconditional love. I feel it a kind way to deal with earth-bounded entities as being a Reiki healer.
